Poker in “Leicester Square”, London

This summer will see the 3rd year in a row of the Poker in the Park festival in London during the month of August.

It seems like a great place to be to catch some famous poker faces (!) and hear some great free talks / lectures.  Amongst those giving talks in the Poker Academy Lecture Tent will be Neil Channing and Ian Frazer.  With 5 main tents, there will be plenty to occupy the poker enthusiast; the Poker Dome, will host loads of pub league players battling it out in Texas Hold’em Tournaments; the Mocktail Bar will be serving free non-alcoholic cocktails to quench the thirst whilst simultaneously keeping the poker players on track; an Omaha Tent with sit’n go Omaha Hi/Lo Tournaments; Heads Up Tent (sponsored by PKR Poker); a shop; a book shop; and 3 more tents that have yet to be named.

Sounds like a great day out for any poker fan to me… the only thing I’d query is why it’s called Poker in the Park, when it’s quite blatently not in an actual park?!!:)

If you want to find out more about the event, taking place on 13th and 14th August 2009, have a look at their website, or even check out the new Twitter page set up to keep us all informed on the event.  If your passion lies more in pokies online than online poker you may still want to pop along for a Mocktail or two if nothing more!!
