Paddy Power does a Hollywood

Paddy Power, the Irish bookmaker that also runs a leading online casino site face a potential legal battle to keep their ‘Hollywood’ style sign up in the British countryside.

The sign, which at 82 metres long and 15 meters high is bigger than the world famous Hollywood sign has been placed in a prime location in the British countryside.  At over 100 tonnes it took 60 men to put the sign up, and the whole project took over 1000 man hours to complete.

The initial plans were to put the sign up for the Cheltenham festival, one of the biggest horse racing events in the United Kingdom.  Following the completion of the 4 day festival the plan was to take the sign down.

However, it’s now become apparent that Paddy Power has no intention of taking the sign down.  Recent news from the Paddy Power PR team is that the company have signed a lease with a local landowner to enable the sign to stay up permanently in the hope the sign will become one of the UK’s top landmarks.

With the sign located in one of England’s natural beauty spots, locals have not surprisingly been up in arms at the arrangement.  Representatives from the local planning department have been inundated with complaints from members of the general public.

Needless to say the publicity loving Paddy Power seem unconcerned with the furore that the sign has created.

Commenting on the recent, industry analyst Jamie Spence…

“Paddy Power has again pulled off a publicity win of massive proportions.  It’s likely that the sign will eventually have to be taken down, but the publicity that the company will have generated in the process will be worth a small fortune.”

Paddy Power are also well known for their casino platform which includes leading games such as Cashanova and Major Millions and are listed on the Irish Stock Exchange .
