Since 2001 the GameAccount Network has been offering players in over 130 countries the opportunity to play a variety of games online, both for fun and for real money. As well as offering poker, blackjack, dominoes, backgammon, Hi Low solitaire and roulette, players will be pleased to know that they also offer pokie games. On 17 November 2009 GameAccount announced the launch of their French network alongside an application for a licence to operate in France.
After the summer’s massive changes to and opening up of the Italian gaming laws, GameAccount has already been licenced there for around 60% of Italy’s sports betting, scratch cards and poker game operators. They have secured licences for SNAI, Sisal, Cogetech and Lottomatica – the national lottery operator.
Running operations and liaising with the government in France will be Eric Guedj – who some of you will know was responsible for the launch of the World Series of Backgammon back in 2006, as well as project managing at Partouch Interactive.
France’s new gaming laws mean that new licences are being awarded to non-government run companies and taxes are going to be paid locally. Already this month, GameAccount set up a white-label site for the English language site Born.com, hosting a variety of skill games such as dominoes, blackjack and backgammon. A French language version of the site is due to launch at the beginning of December.
