Betfair launch first betting app for the Apple iPad

Betfair, the UK online gambling company have announced the launch of the first fully authorised betting app for the Apple iPad.

The app which was officially launched today, mimics the functionality of the full Betfair website and enables users to place bets on any of the markets that Betfair cover. The launch of the iPad betting app comes only 3 months after the successful launch of the iPhone betting app.

Designed specifically for the Apple iPad, the Befair betting app is free to download from today at the iTune store.

Commenting on the launch, Don Fotsch, Betfair’s Director of User Experience was keen to express Betfair’s innovative strategy in “offering our customers the most cutting-edge methods of placing their bets”.

The move to be first to market a betting app on both the iPhone and iPad marks a clear indication of the strategic direction Betfair’s management team are willing to pursue. Whilst initial marketing efforts have been to target the app to existing Betfair customers, it appears that future advertising will aim to attract new customers to the Betfair platform.

However, Australian residents will be disappointed to learn that the Betfair iPad app is currently only available to UK and Ireland residents. Australian residents will have to make do with non-authorised Apple apps such as the iPhone pokies app released earlier this year.
